Unfolding the sky
She returns to the house she has known since childhood. Back then, she could sense that the house had a life of its own — it seemed to breathe in its own strange rhythm. Her grandmother has lived here for more than sixty years, shaping and transforming the house throughout all those years. A house is meant to offer shelter, to be solid and secure, held by walls and a roof; this one is alive.
Set Design and Art Direction by Omar Sherif
The set design unfolds as a “box within a box”: a white, intimate space contained within the black stage, creating a transition from the cosmic to the personal — from the universe towards home and memory. Surrounding the performer, the floor becomes a shifting house plan, expanding through color and drawing throughout the performance. A hidden black space at the back of the stage is revealed through light and the performer’s silhouette, becoming the site of the ritual. 360° projections onto the soft, flowing Schleiernessel extend the space beyond its physical boundaries.
